Looking for some guidance from those who have been there!
by disowned&alone ini was so excited to come upon this website today!
it's so nice to read logical, educated voices who have been brave enough to walk away from this organization.
i was raised a jw, and every person that i personally know that has left has ended up miserable.

Hi D & A ! WELCOME. Glad to have you here. I've never been a dub, but there are numerous good folks here to help you. Pull up a chair and stay awhile..... you're about to take a journey of discovery .... . Just remember, on this board there have been many, many people who have been in your shoes....they now have new, 'positive' lives and will be a big help to you.
In a couple of weeks/months, you'll be surprised at the "new" you.
I look forward to your posts.

Going to Memorial Service for the first time.....what should we expect?
by whyizit inwe spent 6 months "studying" with a jw couple.
they claimed the wts had all the answers, but they actually couldn't answer any of our questions.
(we are devoted born-again bible-believing christians.).

A few years ago, my JW friend invited me too. My impression:No one paid attention to me until my friend showed up and they learned I was not a JW.... "love bombing at its' best".
Melody and lyrics to their unknown songs were rather bland and unemotional.
Talks were like the music, except more-so. (boring)
Passing the emblems only to be ignored was puzzling and kind of silly if you think about it.
At the end, and invitation was given to learn more at a "special meeting".
Good thing: only one-hour
Best thing: Going out to dinner afterwords --- no one even discussed the meeting.

Live like you were diein'
by startingover ini'm just listening to tim mcgraw sing this song about this.
what would you do if you were told you had a few months to live?.
i personally have been reflecting on this because my mother was recently told she had a real short time.

Wow, that's great ! What part of the country do you live in? (You don't have to say if you don't want to, but obviously it's not here in So. California... it's so seldom anyone gets a good deal). Congrats.

A Babe in the Woods ~ Mormons meet Sue
by unclebruce inseveral weeks ago i posted about a client of mine named sue.
well today i was back at her place completing all the cold water and sanitary plumbing to the railway carriage.
while i was there sue came running out several times with more questions about the bible and i was able to help her with information about the old books origins the sumerian epics, egyptian military code, persian dualism, torah, hebrew, nazarite / aramaic, paulian greek, catholic latin leading to the modern english translations we are so blessed with today.

Great pictures... do you need an extra roommate?
Now I may be being a little harsh on “the boys”. Perhaps Mormons don't think like JW's.
Believe me, they don't.... however, they we probably think.... "Way cool....how does a person get this gig"?

I too, need guidance
by Wineskin Cowboy ini am a newb here and have spent some time considering the effect on impressionable minds of the bizarre cult that is the jay dub "religion".
mind you, i could be said to have a flea in my ear.. strange coincidence that i should not only be in the same state( geographically, not mind) and city as the esteemed duality known as dr jekyll, but living a mere 4 houses away from a kingdom hall actually "quick built" by my deeply disturbed ex father in law and his young pioneer daughter whom i was silly enough to marry.. i believe that it is one of life's great ironies that the joyless f**ks come out to play on memorial night when there is always a full moon.
i have always been tempted to eat the effing wafers and howl my annointedness at it.. and don't get me started on the whole "translation from original greek and aramaic texts" thing done by a committee of elders who spoke neither greek nor aramaic.. more later..
